I specified the maximum current in Quilter’s “Circuit Comprehension” section, and also created dedicated trace width rules for power nets in Altium Designer. Why does Quilter ignore these rules and still route using the minimum trace width?
Hi, the 500mA current is used to input to the IPC-2221 formula (at 20C allowable temperature rise) to set the absolute minimum trace thickness. You can see this value on the next page, where the “computed constraints” are shown. For 500mA that is a small value.
We don’t automatically load the rules you are showing straight from Altium Designer (yet). That is coming. My recommendation is to set these explicitly on the next constraints page in the “net widths” section manually. See below:
